Cosmic Litter

Our cosmic litter could easily have been Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but I couldn’t call a sweet little puppy Grumpy! We have seven sweet boys and our beautiful girl Luna. Five out of the eight are Black Tri, two are Yellow Tri (see below for more information on this rare color) and one Red Tri. (Click on their pics to see how they grew up)

Luna and Orion have the beautiful golden (‘yellow’) Australian Shepherd coat color. This unique color has become increasingly sought after around the world (we had enquiries from as far away as Germany!) as advances in genetic testing have confirmed that it is simply a coat color and has no impact on health. In the past, the light coloring could make merle patterns difficult to identify by eye alone, which is why responsible breeders now rely on DNA testing rather than appearance when planning litters.

Like all yellow Aussies, their coats will naturally deepen and become richer as they mature.

Click here for is a wonderful explanation of the often misunderstood Yellow Aussie.

We also carefully breed to avoid excessive white on the head. Luna, Sirius, and Orbit currently have a little more white than some puppies, but this is expected to become much less noticeable as they grow. Their markings are well within the breed standard and do not cover the eyes or ears, so their vision and hearing are not affected.
